A short discussion on the results of an Ecosystem Protection Services' project developing set-aside practices that benefit waterfowl, the environment, and producers. Practices include leaving feels fallow and promoting native vegetation, setting fields out of production and growing small grains, and planting small grains behind row crops to improve soil health and provide food for waterfowl. This project demonstrated interest by local producers to engage in such practices and provides justification for incentivizing set-aside in NRCS programs.

George is passionate about conservation efforts and educating those around him on how they can conserve and preserve our natural resources. Because of his passion for educating others, George recently created a 501(c)(3) public charity better known as the Five Oaks Agriculture Research & Education Center (FOAgREC)

George Dunklin, Jr., the owner of Five Oaks Duck Lodge, is not only in the business of waterfowl, but the business of family tradition.

In 1907, George’s grandfather, Lester A. Black, acquired what is now the land surrounding Five Oaks Duck Lodge. L.A., unbeknownst to him, would begin a legacy of conservation and preservation that would last for generations.
